Colo. man accused of shaking, hitting girlfriend’s baby in ‘filthy’ motel room, killing him

A 21-year-old man, William Jacobs, was arrested and is facing charges of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury after his girlfriend's 10-month-old baby, Edward Hayes, died from suspected child abuse. The incident occurred at a Motel 6 in Cañon City, Colorado, where Jacobs and his girlfriend had been living since losing their home in a fire earlier this year. The room in which they were staying was described as filthy by police. Jacobs was caring for the child when he allegedly shook and slapped him. He later admitted to biting the victim's arm and hitting Edward's head on a door frame and light fixture.
