NBC almost had a crossover between two of the most popular shows of all time - Friends and Seinfeld. However, Larry David shut down the idea immediately. Seinfeld writer Peter Mehlman even suggested that they would only do the crossover if Ross died in their show. Another NBC blackout idea was also rejected by Larry, where all New York-based shows on NBC would have a blackout during the same week. In the end, Friends and Seinfeld remained separate, but both stayed on top of the television world in the '90s.
