Social media 'momfluencer' convicted for lying about kidnapping in viral video
25/05/2023

A "momfluencer" named Kathleen Sorensen has been convicted of falsely accusing a Latino couple of attempting to kidnap her children outside a Michael's store in 2020. Sorensen initially reported the incident to the Petaluma Police Department, claiming that the couple had made comments about her children's appearance and followed her to her car. However, when she later posted an Instagram video adding details not disclosed to the police, they obtained footage from the store and interviewed the suspects, finding no evidence to support Sorensen's claims. She was convicted of making a false report of a crime and faces up to six months in jail.
