He agreed with the public that the final episode didn't work well and that the tribute to all the great performances and people who had walked through the set didn't land as intended. Knight mentioned that Larry David wanted the main characters to have the worst time possible and be undeserving of any glory. Although Jerry Seinfeld was happy with the finale at the time, he later admitted that they shouldn't have done it. The show ended while still popular, as the cast agreed it was the right moment to end their successful run.
