Do You That? Seinfeld’s Most Famous Joke Would Sadly No Longer Be Funny In 2023!

Spike Feresten, a writer for the TV show Seinfeld, has expressed concerns that one of its most famous minor characters, The Soup Nazi, would not work in today's culture. Feresten wrote the episode featuring the character, played by Larry Thomas, where he demands customers behave a certain way when placing an order. Elaine is banned from his shop, leading to a feud between the two.

However, Feresten acknowledges that the name and title have negative connotations due to the renewed visibility of real-life Nazis and says he doesn't think he could get away with it today. The character was based on a real-life soup vendor who disliked the portrayal.
