Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus has revealed that she suffered a miscarriage during her first pregnancy in 1987, around the same time as the premiere of Seinfeld. In an emotional recounting on her Wiser Than Me podcast, she explained that she and her husband discovered the fetus was not going to survive late in the pregnancy, before she developed an infection that landed her in hospital.
Despite this traumatic experience, she went on to have two sons and starred in both Seinfeld and Veep, earning multiple awards for her performances. She has also appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, with plans to star in future projects.
