How An Unscripted Line On The Big Bang Theory Changed Kevin Sussman's Role Forever!
24/05/2023

Kevin Sussman's role as Stuart Bloom in the CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" was originally supposed to be a one-episode character but he ended up appearing in a total of 84 episodes over the show's run. Sussman was actually Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady's first choice to play main character Howard Wolowitz, but he couldn't be released from his contract with "Ugly Betty," so they cast Simon Helberg instead.

Sussman was eventually cast as Stuart, a character who ends up becoming defined by depression, thanks to an unscripted line he added in Season 3. Despite finding love finally with Denise (Lauren Lapkus) in the final season, Sussman believes that the writers were unaware the show was coming to an end, and he wouldn't have been averse to it continuing.
