Jensen Ackles took a dig at Smallville in front of its star Tom Welling during The Winchesters Season 1 gag reel. Ackles joked about Supernatural's longer run and compared it to Smallville's 10 seasons. Welling took the insult in stride and laughed it off. Both shows had aired on the same network, and Ackles had brief appearances in Smallville as a love interest for Lana Lang. Welling has since gone on to other notable roles, including his return to The CW as Clark Kent in "Crisis on Infinite Earths." The future of The Winchesters remains uncertain, but fans are campaigning hard for its renewal.
