A body has been found in the search for Shannon Canning, a missing 24-year-old woman from Lancaster. Shannon was last seen leaving her home in the early hours of May 19 and failed to turn up at work the following day. Lancashire Police described her disappearance as 'out of character' and searched the River Lune and Lancaster Canal with specialist divers while officers scoured the city center and Ridge Estate. Sadly, on May 24, a body believed to be Shannon's was found in the River Lune near Halton. Formal identification is yet to take place, but the police believe it to be Shannon. Her family has been informed, and they are being supported by the authorities. The investigation is ongoing, and an increased police presence will remain in the area as the police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
